SUPPORTING FAMILIES & PEOPLE IN NEED

Here at Oasis Community Services, we believe in being a practical help to our community. We have identified a need for families and people to be supported with food and household essentials in our Rockhampton community, due to economic hardship.

Currently in Australia, 3.3 million people, including over 700,000 children, are living in poverty, and 40% of renters anticipate having difficulty paying their rent in the upcoming three months, according to government and research data.

People experiencing difficulty has been rising steadily as a result of the current economic situation, with families in Australia suffering from growing costs. Over the previous year, the price of food, energy, and fuel has increased considerably, by more than 40%, making it hard for some families and people to afford food and household essentials.

How Do Hope Bags Work?

Supporting our community through Hope Bags is really easy.

Simply purchase as many bags as you would like to contribute for $5 each (this cost allows us to replace the bags), fill the bags with supplies from the “What We Need” list below, and then drop the filled bag off to our office at 2 Glenmore Rd, Park Avenue. The bags are then distributed to families in need via school chaplains throughout the Rockhampton region.
